Compound numbers explained

The two-digit total a name reaches before it is reduced. 55 compounds are documented here, each with its classical meaning, its business note and the digit it reduces to.

Most numerology stops at a single digit. The method this site follows does not, and the difference matters commercially: it is the reason two names that both reduce to 5 are not treated as the same name.

The compound is the layer underneath the digit

A compound number is the letter total of a name before it is reduced. The source material treats the reduced digit as the public layer — what a business looks like from outside — and the compound as the hidden one, the part it says foreshadows how things actually run. Both are read, and neither replaces the other.

Two names on the same digit are not the same name

This is the practical consequence. Two names can both reduce to 5 and behave differently, because one arrived from 23 and the other from 41. Any analysis that reports only the single digit has thrown away the part of the reading that distinguishes them.

The two digits are read as a pair as well as a sum

Alongside the classical meaning, the source material reads a compound as the two planets of its digits meeting. Nineteen is read as the Sun with Mars — the king with the commander. Eighteen is read as the Sun with Saturn, which the same system calls mutual enemies. That planetary pairing is where much of the business verdict comes from.

Some totals are not reduced at all

Where a running total lands on 13, 14, 16 or 19, the source material stops there rather than reducing further. A total of 49 becomes 13 and stays 13. Those four are treated as carrying their own weight regardless of the digit underneath.

The nearest good compound beats the ideal one

When two compounds carry the same meaning, the source material takes the one that needs the fewest letters changed. A name sitting on 34 was moved to 37 rather than to 46 for exactly that reason. And where two acceptable options exist, it takes whichever is actually available to register.

Do not put everything on the same number

The source material recommends splitting: the personal name on one compound, the company name on another, the brand or logo on a third. A worked example runs a personal name at 41, a company at 33 and a logo on a 5.

Where the table stops

The classical table runs to 52 and the sources disagree about whether compounds above it carry meaning at all. A handful of higher totals are documented here because the business sources use them directly. Beyond that the source material simply stops describing compounds, and a name landing on an undocumented total is scored neutrally rather than negatively. Silence is not a verdict.

What is a compound number?

The letter total of a name before it is reduced to a single digit. Anything from 10 upward is a compound. The source material reads the reduced digit as the public layer and the compound as the hidden one.

Why does the compound matter if it reduces anyway?

Because two names on the same digit are not the same name. One reaching 5 from 23 and another reaching 5 from 41 are read differently, and the difference is stated in the compound table rather than in the digit.
